Bud Mclearn

Vernon "Bud" McLearn (September 11 1933 – April 7 1999) was coach for Mediapolis Iowa girls six-on-six basketball team from 1959 to 1987. During his 28 year tenure as coach, McLearn's Mediapolis teams had a combined record of 706-80, including an unbelievable 333-8 at home. McLearn's teams qualified for the Iowa state tournament 21 years out of the 28, with two state championships.

McLearn was inducted into the Iowa Coaches Hall of Fame in 1988 and poshumously inducted into the National High School Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2000.
