"The Religion" is a modern-day set horror novel written in 1982 that explores the ritual sacrifice of children to appease the pantheon of Voodoo deities, through the currently used practice of Santeria. This is by no mean accurate, as the practice of Santeria has never practiced nor condoned the sacrifice of humans, much less children, but the novel depicts the various deities and personas commonly seen in Santeria, and attempt to explain the connection between Santeria and voodoo.

From the book jacket:Someone is killing the children. It is evil, of course. It is murder. But some see it as a necessary sacrifice from which only good will come. And no one must be allowed to stop this pattern of deaths before it is completed.

Plot
