Maggie Cronin is an Irish actress, best known to most for her role in the BBC's long running daytime drama Doctors.

Maggie's origins are County Clare, but she grew up in London and is now based in Belfast. She has brown hair, green eyes and is 5' 6" tall. Her Spotlight number is 859.[1]
She trained at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, which was absorbed into the Central School of Speech and Drama in 2006.

Writing
Maggie's first one woman show, 'A Most Notorious Woman' directed by Paddy Scully, premiered at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 1989 and subsequently toured, over a number of years, throughhout the UK Ireland and the US. It garnered much critical acclaim. The script won The Stewart Parker Trust/BBC Radio Drama Award for 1995 and was finally published by Lagan Press in 2004
Maggie's second one woman show 'Greenstick Boy' directed by Sarah Tipple, previewed at The Brian Friel Theatre Belfast in March 2008, premiered at The Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh Festival Fringe, August 2008 and has been performed at Belfast’s Black Box Theatre (Out to Lunch Festival 2010) and Bewley’s Cafe Theatre, (ABSOLUT Fringe, Dublin 2010.)

She is known for her extensive theatre, voiceover and radio work, appearing on stations such as BBC Radio 4 ('One By One In The Darkness', Woman's Hour) BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio Ulster. Her recent theatre work includes her performance in her new one woman show: Greenstick Boy at Bewley's Cafe Theatre Dublin for ABSOLUT Fringe; the role of Gin in Trestle at Pope Lick Creek for Prime Cut Productions,Belfast; Joy Gresham in Shadowlands (at the Lyric Theatre, Belfast), Titania in A Midsummer Night's Dream (at the |Lyric Theatre, Belfast]]) and Reta in 'Unless' (Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough).[2]

She has played the roles of: Alice Weller in Whole Lotta Sole (filmed in 2011) and Mary in The Shore (short film, premiered April 2011 at Belfast Film Festival ) both directed by Terry George.
Television
She has also appeared in The Clinic as Emer O'Callaghan (RTE) ;Scapegoat as Doris Curran ; Holby City as Bel Ferris ('Seven Days Later') and The Bill as Gina ('Unlucky For Some').[3]
Doctors
To most, Maggie is best known for her role as Practice Manager Kate McGuire in BBC One's flagship daytime serial, 'Doctors'.
She was a member of the original cast at the launch of the programme in 2000,[4] and remained as a main character until her leaving on 26 May 2006.[5]
As the wife of Mac (played by Christopher Timothy, of All Creatures Great and Small fame), Kate was partly responsible for setting up the original practice around which the drama revolved - Riverside Surgery. As Practice Manager, she was involved regularly with the storylines of both patients and the other doctors, and is featured in the majority of the early episodes. During her time in Letherbridge Kate endured countless trials and tribulations including a miscarriage, Mac's trial for the murder of a patient, an affair with a priest (who was later killed, played by Richard Standing) and the abduction of her and Mac's son, Ciaran.
