Roderick Moore

Roderick W. Moore, of Rhode Island, is the first United States Ambassador to Montenegro. He was nominated by President George W. Bush and confirmed by the U.S. Senate on June 29th 2007. Ambassador Moore presented his credentials to Montenegrin President Filip Vujanovic on September 18th 2007.

Career

Prior to his appointment as Ambassador to Montenegro, Mr. Moore served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade(January 2004 - June 2007). He also served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy in Sofia, Bulgaria (2000-2003).Ambassador Moore hasworked as a diplomat at U.S. embassies in Port-au-Prince, Haiti (1988-1989) and Sofia (1990-1992). He was the Department of State's representative in Skopje, Macedonia from 1992 to 1993. He also served as Political-Economic Counselor at the American Embassy in Zagreb, Croatia (1996-1999) and was Senior Political Advisor at the Office of Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCEhttp://www.osce.org) Mission in Sarajevo, [Bosnia-Herzegovina] http://www.bosnia.ba (1996).

Education

Ambassador Moore received his B.A. in Russian Studies and International Relations in 1986 and an M.A. in Slavic Linguistics in 1987 from Brown University. He speaks Montenegrin, Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Russian, Macedonian, Czech, French, Spanish and Haitian Creole.
