Rupert Neudeck (born
May 14 ,1939 in theFree City of Danzig (Gdańsk)) is a German journalist and humanitarian.He lived in Danzig until 1945 when Germans either fled from the advancing Soviets, or were expelled in the
Expulsion of Germans from Poland after World War II . Thus, he was a refugee during his childhood.After studying varied subjects in
West Germany , including law and Catholic theology, he became a journalist. He was noted as a correspondent forDeutschlandfunk in radio journalism.In 1979 Christel and Rupert Neudeck, together with a group of friends, formed the committee "A ship for Vietnam" and chartered for the rescue mission the freighter "
Cap Anamur ". He did humanitarian work in this project that aids refugees. He also founded "GRUENHELME" (Green Helmets) for rebuilding schools, villages, and ambulances in destroyed regions.
