The Hoffman Agency is a global high-tech public relations firm. It employs over 130 people spanning 13 offices worldwide in Europe, Asia Pacific, and the United States. The company's major customers include Plantronics, Novellus, Friendster, ILOG, and Axis Communications.

The company spearheads global public relations programs for technology companies in the semiconductor, business-to-business, and consumer industries. They also have clients in several burgeoning technology areas such as nanotechnology, web 2.0, and clean-tech and run thought-leadership campaigns for industry pundits, non-profits, and other experts.

In an industry faced with increasing consolidation1 into a few public relations giants, The Hoffman Agency is a mid-sized agency with a global footprint. The company includes ‘expert groups’ on business press, measurement, green, web 2.0, and broadcast media.

History

The Hoffman Agency opened their doors in December of 1987 with Meridian Data, a company specializing in CD ROM publishing systems. In 1988 the company successfully publicized HP's new concept of a CD-ROM and later won the business of HP services. HP's name brought significant prestige and credibility to the fledgling operation, which swifly increased its client base across the technology continuum.

In 1993 the firm won the Silver Anvil award for their work launching HP’s miniature disk drive, Kitty Hawk. In 1994 The Hoffman Agency initiated its first global campaign in launching Hyundai’s (now known as Hynix) MPEG-2 chip in Europe and Asia Pacific. Global expansion followed the work for Hyundai with the firm opening offices in Singapore, Beijing, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Korea from 1996 through 2000. The opening of the company's Beijing office in 1999 marked a significant milestone for The Hoffman Agency as the first Silicon Valley technology PR firm to enter mainland China. The Hoffman Agency expanded to Europe in 2001 with the opening of an office in London. Since then, the firm has added an office in Munich, Paris, and Taiwan.

The company's work has attracted over 100 industry awards including the Crystal Award of Excellence (Communicator Awards) and the Platinum Award (Marcom Creative Awards). In 2007 the agency won the Bronze Anvil award for a B-Roll project called “Delivering Explosive Results for the Latest Anti-terror Technology” for Sony and a thought leadership campaign called “From Blogs to BusinessWeek” for ThinkFree.
