Hasaris

The Hasaris are an alien civilization in the original 1978 Battlestar Galactica TV series. They are an amphibious species from the world Hasari Prime. They are never seen in the series, but appear in the Battlestar Galactica video game, where they are depicted as a whale-like species. They are peaceful in nature, and possess only a limited military capability.

Nearly a thousand yahrens before the destruction of the Twelve Colonies, the Cylon Empire attacked the Hasaris. The exact reasons for their attack are unknown, but given the aggressive and war-mongering nature of the Cylons, it is likely they were looking to expand their empire, and that Hasaris space seemed easy to take over. Outnumbered and outgunned, the Hasaris sent out a desperate call for help to all the other races in the galaxy. Only the Twelve Colonies of Man answered the call, and sent a fleet to their aid. The Cylon-Hasaris war escalated into The Thousand Yahren War between the Cylons and the Twelve Colonies.
