Orbit Design Studio

Orbit Design Studio is a global design agency with offices in Bangkok, London, and Tokyo. The practice was founded by Christopher Redpath in 1996 and its Tokyo and Bangkok branches were later established in 2001 and 2004.

The Nike corporate office in Bangkok is an interior design project in which recycled materials are widely used on its floors and walls. The design challenge was to create a space which houses Nike’s corporate office and a full gymnasium as well as a laboratory while complying with all environmental and safety standards. The firm wanted to bring to the office a high level of energy similar to that felt in a sporting event, thus ensued a design concept moulded on sporting arenas. Bright colours, stadium hanging lighting, wire mesh, and flooring made of recycled rubber were used to replicate the interior design of sporting arenas, as well as to heighten ceilings and brighten the office space.

The next Bangkok project was Bed Supperclub. From Architecture to Interior Design, Orbit Design Studio was involved in all aspects of design, resulting in one of the most easily recognisable buildings in Bangkok.[citation needed] The structure is made entirely of steel and houses a restaurant and bar in the Sukhumvit area of downtown Bangkok. Its interiors are entirely white and features beds instead of tables and chairs for its clientele to have their dinner lying down.

Apart from Architecture and Interior Design, the firm is known for its Computer Generated Images (CGIs)[citation needed], many of which have been successfully used by property developers in the UK and Thailand as marketing centrepieces. Notable images include that of The River Bangkok [1] and The Heights Phuket [2].
