- Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation
The Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation is a agreement between Australia and Japan (Nippon) to enhance relations between the two countries mostly in trade but also social and cultural factors. It was an important stepping stone in post-World War II relations.
The treaty, signed in 1976, was originally known as the Nippon-Australia Relations Agreement (NARA) [McDougall, Derek J. "Studies in International Relations". Hodder Education Canberra 1997 ]
