The Shabab al-Muomineen [ [http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/para/shabab-al-moumineen.htm al-Shabab al-Mum?en / Shabab al-Moumineen (Believing Youth) ] ] (also known as the "Believing Youth", "Youthful Believers" or "the Houthis") is a Zeidi (Shia) insurgent group fighing the Yemeni authorities in the Sa'dah Governorate in northern Yemen. It is led by members of the prominent al-Houthi Shia family, and is oftenly referred to as "the Houthis" since Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi, their former commander was killed by theYemeni army forces in September 2004. The Yemeni government claims the rebels want to overthrow it and impose Shia religious law. The rebels say they are defending their community against discrimination and what they call aggressive acts by the government.
