The Discontinuity

The Discontinuity is an Australian television drama series to be screened on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. The series, produced by Bryce Campbell, has been described as a science fiction, action, thriller.

The series revolves around Dr. Dean Hartgedan, who has returned to his childhood home Braidwood, only to find his relationships with his brother, best friend and estranged fiancée have been destroyed. The day after his arrival a massive cosmic disaster occurs, 'the discontinuity', tearing apart the fabric of space and time, taking the area of Braidwood and melding it together with other 'slices' of earth's prehistoric past and future. The series follows a team of scientists, bureaucrats and military people dealing with the animals.

Members of the production team have suggested that it combines aspects of television series East of Everything, Primeval and Jericho.

Production Notes

Casting for the series is undergoing the first stages, and filming has not yet begun. However, the producer has revealed that the first episode will involve a giant prehistoric bird from earth's not-to-distant past.

Video game adaptation

In a recent press release, President and founder of the games studio "Mr. Fly Productions", Leo Alder, commented that he is "interested in the idea of The Discontinuity" and "would like to open discussions with Bryce Campbell concerning a video game adaption"

Mr. Alder's secretary, Dale Horne, has promised to keep the press informed of any updates.
