Silvia Teijeira

Silvia Teijeira is an Argentine pianist and composer born in Federal, a city in the province of Entre Ríos, on 28 of June 1966. She performs, spreads and studies Argentine music of a folklore origin,a choice possibly influenced by the rural and rugged landscape of her childhood.

She studied piano tutored by the pianist Graciela Reca, and is a graduate of the higher level of the Escuela de Música,Paraná, Entre Ríos, Argentina.

She attended classes, courses and workshops with Carlos Aguirre, R. Di Pietro,Lilián Saba, Walter Heinze and the pianist Marcela Martínez among others.

During 1996 and 1997, she was an active student of the workshops of improvisation techniques and harmony in the Escuela de Música Creativa, in Madrid, Spain, directed by Joshua Eddelman and Claudio Gabis.

She studied foklore in the piano under the guidance of Hilda Herrera,and Analysis and Composition tutored by Luis M. Mucillo.

In January 2001, together with Raúl Barboza, she attended lessonson Guarani Music in Paris.

She was awarded the 2004 Scholarship of the National Art Fund - Argentina - under the Category Folklore Expressions.

In Julie 2005 she produced her first piano album “Rulos de Zamba”. In her repertoire, she included her compositions, works of her own and of other musicians that made essential contributions to the development of an Argentine musical identity.

In April and June, 2007 she published two music books for piano.“Puertas adentro…, abiertas de par en par…”, with music of her authorship,and "“Música Argentina de raíz folclórica, Raúl Barboza, Félix Dardo Palorma,Rolando “chivo” Valladares, Ramón Navarro… y el señor piano…”" With her own arrangements of the works of the composers already mentioned.

Her repertoire includes works of her own and of other musicians that she considers have made an essential contribution to the development of an Argentine musical identity
