John Joe Nevin

John Joseph Nevin (born 7 June, 1989 in Mullingar, County Westmeath, Ireland), more commonly known as John Joe Nevin, is an Irish amateur boxer who won the Irish national boxing title and qualified for the 2008 Summer Olympics at the age of 18.

Career

Nevin lost 11:21 to Luis Yanez at the 2006 World Junior Championships at 48kg.

Nevin qualified for the 2008 Olympics by winning the 1st European Qualifying Tournament. Nevin subsequently won the 2008 European Union boxing championships.

In the 2008 Olympics he beat Abdelhalim Ourradi 9-4 in his first round before being beaten by Enkhbatyn Badar-Uugan 14-2 in the round of 16.
