- Exon-Florio Amendment
The Exon-Florio Amendment [http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/search/display.html?terms=2170&url=/uscode/html/uscode50a/usc_sec_50a_00002170----000-.html 50 U.S.C. app 2170] was enacted by the
United States Congress in 1988 to reviewforeign investment within the United States. Theamendment was passed into law under theOmnibus Trade and Competitiveness Act of 1988 and amended Section 721 ofDefense Production Act of 1950 . Allforeign investments that might affectnational security may be reviewed and if deemed to poised a threat to security, thePresident of the United States , may block the investment. According to the amendment, the president may block the investment when "there is credible evidence that leads the President to believe that the foreign interest exercising control might take action that threatens to impair the national security."
