- Electoral division of Wanguri
Wanguri is an electoral division of the Legislative Assembly in
Australia 'sNorthern Territory . It was first created in1983 , and deriving its name from the suburb of the same name, and replacing the abolished electorate of Leanyer. Wanguri is an urban electorate, covering 8.01 km², and taking in the suburbs of Karama and Leanyer. There were 4301 people enrolled within the electorate as ofJune 2005 .Wanguri has generally been a marginal electorate, though like many others in the Territory, it has a tendency to keep its incumbent members, regardless of party. While the
Country Liberal Party held it for the first six years after its creation in1983 , theAustralian Labor Party have narrowly held it ever since. Henderson was not expected to have much difficulty retaining Wanguri at the 2005 election, and ultimately held the seat with a strong swing in his favour.Members for Wanguri
