J.A. Cooley Museum

J.A. Cooley Museum

Founded in 1997 by native San Diegan James Austin Cooley, the J.A. Cooley Museum displays one the most eclectic collections of early 20th Century Americana, ranging from phonographs to nickelodeons to antique cars. Hidden away in the Normal Heights neighborhood of San Diego, the museum is connected directly to Frank the Trainman, also owned and operated by Jim Cooley and his wife Carmen. Jim Cooley regularly gives guided tours of the museum, exounding his knowledge on not only the individual items on display, but also the history of San Diego, having experienced much of it himself.
