Matt Peterson

Matthew David Peterson (born February 11 1982 in Alexandria, Louisiana) is a right-handed relief pitcher in minor league baseball who plays in the Kansas City Royals system. Early life

Peterson attended Rapides High School. He played both basketball and baseball his junior and senior years with the Mustangs. His baseball team won the District Championship during his junior season. Career

Peterson was selected by New York Mets in the 2nd Round (65th overall) of 2000 amateur draft. He as rated by Baseball America as the Mets' fourth-best prospect entering the 2004 season

The Pirates designated Peterson for assignment in 2006 to make room for newly acquired reliever Roberto Hernandez on their 40-man roster.
