INTER-ACTIVA Ltd is an i-deas company registered in the
U.K. that was founded byRicard Gras in 2003.Inter-Activa specialises is the conceptualisation of original media content. Over the past years they have also worked as consultants in many projects that involved interactive and linear media companies working together in cross-platform concepts.
Inter-Activa are known for their Machinima and virtual world projects but also for creating one of the first purposely-built virtual movie sets ever created inside an MMO [Machinima Island [http://www.machinima-island.com] ] . They are also known for the work alongside audiences in Second Life [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7SWxBeSVvc] and for their promotion of Machinima through workshops and talks. As an organisation it has wide experience in the creation of
machinima (the making of animation using videogames).Electronic Arts ,SEGA andSONY are amongst the companies that have given INTER-ACTIVA permission to use their games in its productions (see References for examples). In 2005 this organisation became one of the first European companies to develop virtual content for the Second Life environment [ Official SL developers [http://secondlife.com/solution_providers/listings.php?category=FullService | accessdate=2008-05-02] ] .INTER-ACTIVA has collaborated in projects with companies of the likes of Linden Lab, LABoral Centro de Arte, Satiworks, La Despensa, De Montfort University, Endemol, Electric Sheep, AKQA, Boots, Rooster Teeth and the Edinburgh Interactive Entertainment Festival. They were also official sponsors of the 2007 Machinima Europe Festival. In recent years Inter-Activa have also developed sensor-based and MoCap experimental projects alongside organisations like The Animation Academy, Cuttlefish and Viacon.
Their work has been shown in events and festivals taking place at the New York’s Museum of Moving Image, B.tween, Showcomotion Children’s Media Conference, National Film Theatre, Amsterdam’s Cross-media Salon, iEnter, iFest, London Games Conference, European Games Conference, Ars Electronica, Barcelona’s CaixaForum, Singapore’s Mixed-Media summit amongst others. INTER-ACTIVA won the Best Technical Achievement award at the latest Machinima Film Festival thanks to the creation of purpose-built Machinima Tools inside Second Life and its projects have been shortlisted for different festivals under categories such as Best Visual Design and Experimental work [The 2006 Mackies url=http://festival.machinima.org/2006/mackies.html | accessdate=2008-05-02] + more recently the Technology Strategy Board 2008 competition.
