Barbara G. Peters (
December 22 1940 ) was born inWinnetka, Illinois .Peters was named by
Publishers Weekly as one of the eleven most important people in Bookselling in theirJanuary 3 ,2000 issue in an article entitled [http://www.publishersweekly.com/article/CA167765.html "Eleven for the Millennium"] . In 1989 she founded The Poisoned Pen, one of the world's largest mystery bookstores which has since expanded into many literary areas, doing business nationally and internationally. She is a founder of the Independent Mystery Booksellers Association. In 1997 she cofounded Poisoned Pen Press, a separate corporation dedicated to publishing excellence in mystery. Its first book, edited by Peters, was nominated for an Edgar Allan Poe Award. She is the winner of the Raven Award from the Mystery Writers of America, was the 2007 Bouchercon Fan Guest of Honor, and with husband, publisher Robert Rosenwald, the 2008 Bouchercon Lifetime Achievement Award honoree. She has many times been nominated for Bookseller of the Year. She is frequently used as a primary source in bothLibrary Journal andPublishers Weekly such as in Library Journal's [http://www.libraryjournal.com/article/CA6547090.html April 15, 2008] issue. She holds a BA fromStanford University , an MA fromNorthwestern University , an MSLS from theUniversity of Tennessee , and was named a Library of Congress Intern on receipt of her Masters in Library Science, and is a member of theCrime Writers of Canada ,British Crime Writers Association , andMystery Writers of America .Persondata
