Ramzi Khoury (born June 3, 1978), known as RAmez , is one of the most famous Lebanese French rap artist. Noticed for his work on peace, ethics and transparency. RAmez was signed in 2005 to Temple Entertainmentan independent Lebanese label and released his first EP in 2007. Due to a lack of transparency from his producer RAmez resigns and creates RAmez Productions. In 2008 RAmez is the 1st Lebanese French rap artist to promote peace in his country by creating a website to unite all the Lebanese worldwide. RAmez creates Lebcounter in 2008 and RAmez Productions (RAP) presents its first big project the www.lebcounter.com uniting all Lebanese worldwide

History

Ramzi Khoury was born in Beirut, Lebanon to parents of Lebanese origin. When he was nine years old his parents decided to move to Paris, France because of the in Lebanon.

His first passion was radio, he skips most of his classes in order to meet radio hosts and discover in depth this blind medium. This passion will lead him to continue his higher studies in the United States where he studies communication with an electronic media emphasis and is for the 1st time not only able to become a radio host on the University's campus but to rap in front of a large audience. It is while rapping alongside other MC's and just after September 11, 2001 that Ramzi Khoury came up with the nickname RAmez.RAmez in Arabic means symbol and the symbol chosen is the God sun RA. RAmez explains his choice by stating that the present can only be understood if we dig into the past.

Career

In 2001, as a radio host in the United States RAmez helps promoting the birth of Lebanese rap worldwide. At that time as well two tracks extracted form his 1st underground CD are selected to appear on a compilation exclusively distributed in the United States.

"Ma Flamme" and "Y'aura pas de paix" (in which RAmez mixes for the 1st time French and Arabic rap) are released in the United States and this just after September 11th 2001, which results in a certain controversy.

It is 20 years ago in France (in 1989) that RAmez starts being active for Lebanon by being at 11 years old one of the "enfants libres" selected to sing alongside Guy Beart (a well known French artist) the chorus of the song "Liban Libre" promoting Peace for Lebanon.

RAmez continues later to promote Peace by being a radio host on France FM and Radio Nostalgie by breaking rules when necessary for the message to get accross.

At the end of the year 2007, RAmez's first CD is commercialized all throughout Lebanon and reaches the number one position in relation to sales at the Virgin Megastore. After the success of "Leich Heik Baladé" RAmez decided to leave everything and work fully on his music.RAmez is now auto-producing his 2nd Album while working on the www.lebcounter.com

When RAmez's first EP "Leich Heik Baladé" (Why is my country like that?) was commercially released all throughout Lebanon, the track “Leich Heik Baladé” starts playing on many radio stations and became a major hit during the summer season, reaching number 5 in the NRJ Top 20 and number 24 out of all hits aired on NRJ (99FM) for the year 2007. For a first time in the rap history in Lebanon RAmez reaches the number one position in sales at Virgin Megastores and this with his first record.

RAmez becomes in 2007, the 1st Lebanese French rap artist to make it to the NRJ Lebanon top 20. In November of 2007, RAmez releases a track called “Un Monde de Fou” for a French Rap Mix-tape in France. This song airs on Radio Orient in France. This song made available for free download on RAmez's official website allows RAmez to be internationally known.

In 2008, another track extracted from the same EP called "Is it too much asking" plays on Lebanon's number one, Radio One (105.5FM) Once again RAmez is the 1st Lebanese French rap artist to make it on Lebanon's number one radio.

In 2008 RAmez creates RAmez Productions (RAP) to promotes ethics and transparancy worldwide. The 1st big project of that label is Lebcouter.com that promotes peace and unity between all lebanese worldwide.
