Plot Summary

Having discovered that the Lambs orchestrated the ambush in "Death's Shadow" Meera Flame , Shark and Grubbs pursue the scientists. Shark gets a team of ex-soldiers, one of whom, Timas, finds the location of the Lambs HQ. Upon their arrival, they find that a man named Antoine Horwitzer is running the organisation in the place of the missing Prae Athem. Antoine gives them a tour of the labs, and Timas discovers that Prae took all the werewolves she had captured to a remote island. Antoine then says that he had bred a superior race of werewolves, before revealing that he works for Lord Loss character Lord loss; he realeases Juni Swan and unleashes an army soldiers who kill eight of Shark's The Dirty Dozen. They are then surrounded by a pack of werewolves. Shark is attacked by three of the beasts, and Grubbs, Meera, Timas and Prae are forced to abandon him to save their own lives. The Kah-Gash instructs Grubbs to unleash his wolven side, which allows him to become the leader of the island's werewolves. Grubbs then leads the werewolves back to the compound to kill the soldiers and Juni. While battling with Grubbs, Juni experiences a vision of him destroying the human universe, and taunts him with this new knowledge. Then they find Antoine, who reveals the attack on the cruise ship at the end of "Death's Shadow" before being killed by Grubbs' werewolves. It transpires that although he was badly wounded, Shark survived the attack. They take a boat back to land, but Prae decides to stay and rebuild Wolf Island. When they return home they find that Dervish is slowly dying, but this revelation is cut short when a window opens, forcing Grubbs to go into battle once again.
