David Palffy (born March 5, 1969) is a Canadian film and television actor of Welsh and Hungarian descent. He has a degree from the University of Calgary . He attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, and was cast in Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket. Palffy has many television/film credits as an actor and as a writer/director. He also has numerous directing/acting stage credits.
Among his varied credits, he has played two of the most notorious villains Goa'uld Sokar and Anubis in Stargate SG-1. He has made numerous guest appearances in series such as on The X-Files, First Wave, Blade: The Series, and Andromeda', Jeremiah, Freedom, and the successful Canadian police drama, Cold Squad. He has also starred in numerous European dramas, including the acclaimed War series, The Summer of 45, ( De Zomer van 45).
His first major film role was as the hapless Lowell in David Winning's first feature film STORM. He played the role of Castillo in the movie adaptation of the video game House of the Dead.
He formed the Gastown Globe 22 Theatre Company and The Yaletown Actors Lab in Vancouver, where he directed/coached many notable aspiring actors, including Evangeline Lilly and Erica Durance.
Personal life
Palffy married the actress Erica Durance on January 8, 2005. They have resided together in Vancouver for over 9 years.
