What Dreams May Come (Godzilla)

What Dreams May Come is an episode of from the first season.

Plot

A middle aged couple are squabbling about paying the electric bill, when suddenly the power goes off. Upon closer inspection, it is shown that the entire complex is suffering a blackout. A strange creature appears, with the power of electrokinesis, who quickly destroys the building.

The H.E.A.T. team arrive to investigate, but Monique informs them that the creature has been spotted, and they leave. When they get there, they find a monster destroying everything in the area, and they help the people escape. Elsie and Randy stay behind at the destroyed complex and find that one room has been left untouched, they learn from the building's owner that the room belongs to Sidney Walker, who hasn't been seen in days. Meanwhile, Mendel learns that the creature is 100% electromagnetic energy, as they are about to be killed, Godzilla arrives and fights the creature. When he gets electrocuted, Godzilla uses his atomic breath against it, but it just absorbs the energy. Godzilla then headbutts the creature, but it seems to have vanished.

Elsie and Randy learn that Sidney Walker worked at the area which had just been destroyed by the creature - dubbed "The Crackler" by Mendel. Elsie and Randy go to the research clinic where Walker is apparently located. They find Walker hooked to several machines, the doctors explain that Walker had a severe case of insomnia and they used electroconvulsive therapy on him. The therapy only caused temporary spikes in his brainwave activity, and Elsie realizes that the dates the brainwaves spiked were the same dates the Crackler attacked. The abnormal brainwave activity causes massive electrical discharges which take the form of a nightmarish creature, and because of the amount of suppressed rage, Walker's subconscious was able to direct the creature towards people or places he disliked

The Crackler attacks again, this time the Shea Stadium, at the clinic Walker wakes up and gets annoyed at Randy's behaviour. They find that, as Walker lets out his anger, the Crackler weakens. Randy further angers Walker, which makes the Crackler fade in and out of existence, eventually Walker snaps and the Crackler completely disappears.

Trivia

*The Crackler bears a vague resemblance to the creature from Cloverfield.
