Definition
Jemmal is a city in the
sahel ofTunisia , located about twenty kilometres south ofMonastir . It is part of the administrative governorate of Monastir, and is the county seat of a delegation of 55,272 people; within its municipality, there were 41,736 inhabitants at last estimate. The city is well-known for its historic Grand Mosque, backed by the zaouïaUmm El Bouhlia Ezzine (famous holy city). It is at the center of a region of olive groves. A festival takes place during the olive harvest season in November or December of each year. It is also an important industrial center, most notably for textiles and manufacturing. The manufacturing industry also occupies about half of Jemmal's active population. An industrial zone there was established in 2005 on 7.5 hectares, along the road which connects Jemmal to the town of Moknine.In
sports , it is distinguished by its rugby team, the Future of Sports Jemmal. FSJ was a finalist at the cuttingTunisia nationalrugby union team (juniors and seniors), and winner of the 2005 championship against the team ofNabeul .
