"Patito Feo" (in English, Ugly Duckling) is a popular children's TV series from Argentina, starring Laura Esquivel, Brenda Asnicar and Gaston Soffritti. The show started on April 2007, with a first season consisting in 172 episodes, and has just launched the second one. The series has achieved an inmense popularity across Latin America, West Europe and Israel, the soundtrack of the series selling more than 200.000 copies, and concerts being held across the entire continent. The show is mainly broadcast on Canal 13 but it is also seen in Disney Channel Latin America. Plot

First Season

The beginning of the strory introduces single mom Carmen and her daughter "Patricia", simply known as "Patito" (Ducky). They live de San Carlos de Bariloche, a small town in Argentina. Patito falls in love at first sight with "Matias", when she meets him after falling off her bike. Matias is staying there for vacation, but very soon he must go back to his hometown in Buenos Aires. Patito names her dog like him after it.

Soon after "Carmen" and "Patito" travel to Buenos Aires for medical exams. There, Patito meets the hospital director, "Leandro Díaz Rivarola", but it turns out he is her estranged father. Neither Patito nor Leandro know this. Carmen and Patito both stay in the city for Patito¨s medical treatment. Leandro suggests that Patito should apply a fine arts school that is directed by his mother. Patito agrees.

Soon after Leandro finds out who Carmen is, he tries to start over his relationship with her. However, this sitution gets difficult by Blanca, Leandros girlfriend who wants to marry him only for interest. Her daughter, Antonella goes to the same school as Patito, and is Matias´girlfriend.Under these circumstances, the relationships between Carmen and Blanca and the relationship between Patito and Antonella turn into war. Thus creating two rival musical dance groups-Las Divinas(The Beauties) led by Antonella, and Las Populares(The Populars) led by Patito, formed in the school.

econd Season

The beginning of Second Sason 2 follows Carmen expecting a child with Leandro, forming a family between them and Patito, even though Blanca tries to seduce and separate them by trying to become the babys godmother. Carmen’s pregnancy and the babys birth leads to hire a nanny, Socorro. But what they don’t know is that Socorro is a witch, and it is revealed she and Blanca are estranged siblings.

Antonella becomes an international superstar, a cause of her CD release. However, Patito was not allowed a record deal, and feels undershadowed by Antonellas success. Antonella then makes Matias say that he is her boyfriend. But when he declines, he is threatened by Anton ellas manger, stating that if he doesn’t say yes, that Patito will never be able to record her disc. Matias has no choice but to say yes, which leads to Patito{s heartbreak. This makes Patito get revenge by kissing Lucas in front of him, a boy who has been crushing on her for a long time. This leads to their breakup.

However, Patito later finds out the true reason why Matias confirmed his relationship with Antonella, feeling more horrible. She asks Matias for forgiveness, but Matias declines. Matias then says to Facundo that he ready to become a new ¨Matias¨. Antonella and Patito make a bet, to see who can get Matias first. Matias, however, starts dating Luciana in secret, but soon the whole school finds out.

Patito is convinced by Josefina to get back at Antonella for all the things shes done to her. So, Josefina decides to make a video of Antonella acting mean to fans so that Antonella can lose her fan club. She shows the video to Antonellas fan club, and the fan club plans to take down Antonella, coming to her house and starting a riot. Antonella, enraged, confronts Patito. Antonella then says she would never imagine and want to be in Patitos place, and Patito then says that she would never would want to be in Antonellas place. Socorro, the nanny, overhears the conversation, giving her an idea. She makes a bodyswitch potion and when Antonella and Patito wake up, they soon find out they are not in their bodies. They vow to not tell anyone, but soon Antonella sees this as a chance to destroy Patitos reputation. She takes her glasses and braces off, and gets a complete fashion makeover, and an attitude to match. The first thing she decides to do is get back at Josefina for taking away her fans by kissing Guido. Josefina is so devastated she breaks up with him, yet Guido tries to explain he didnt mean for it to happen, and Patito loses her friendship with the Populares. Bruno confronts Patito (Antonella), but Antonella kisses him too, since she still has feelings for him and Pia breaks up with him. In the misdt of all this Patitos baby brother is born, and he is named Joaquin.

Patito, however, is completely miserable by the fact that she is in Antonellas body. She spends most of the time miserable because she cant be with her friends or family. Antonella and Patito later recaive an email saying that they must go to a haunted mansion to get their bodies back. They go, but soon get locked in by some form of evil spirit. They get their bodies back, but only for a moment. Thay later tell Leandro, who is the only one who knows the secret. The next day Antonella (Patito) goes to a church to pray. Matias overhears her and asks her if she is actually Patito, and Patito says yes. They kiss, and at the same time Patito (Antonella) hugs Leandro and tells him he is a good father. They suddenly get their bodies back.

Central Characters

Las Populares

;Patito : a physically ugly girl but has a pure kind heart, she is the daughter of Leandro and Carmen, and also has a little brother named Joaquin. She is simple, comprehensive, and very sweet.

;Matias : is Josefina´s older brother. His best friend is Facundo. Soccer is his passion. When he meets Patito again, he becomes her best friend and will protect her from Antonella. He likes Antonella but he doesn´t like her attitude towards Patito.

;Josefina: Matias´s sister, she becomes Patito' best friend and uniting Tamara and Sol they form the group Las Populares(The Populars), which becomes Las Divinas's (The Beauties) rival group. She does not get why Matias is in love with Antonella, because she has a hate for her. She is dating Guido.she becomes blind in the second season because of a car accident with Guido.

;Tamara: She is best friends with Josefina and Sol, and befriends Patito. She hates fighting and confrontation. She likes Facundoi. She is good at playing hockey. in the second season she becomes goth for a while.

;Sol: She lives with only her mother, she is adopted and knows so, but is not too conflicted about it. She has a great relationship with Tamara and Josefina, and befriends Patito as well.She is dating Santiago.

Las Divinas

;Antonella: Talented, sexy, and a beautiful girl, but also cruel, arrogant, and very dominant.She is Blanca´s daughter and Facundo´s sister. She loves singing and dancing, and Madonna is her idol. She hates losing. Caterina and Pia are her sidekicks in her group Las Divinas. She likes Matias and is willing to be his girlfriend, whatever it takes.

;Caterina: Faithful ally of Antonella, she admires her because of her talent and having fun in life. She is a hopeless,romantic, and adores shopping. she dates alan.

;Pia: Antonella's right hand girl, she is the queen of gossiping. She causes problems intentionally. But deep down, she is insecure and her only obgective is to please Antonella, although Antonella criticizes her behind her back. She wants to be a leader, but aknowledges that she will never be one. she dates bruno.

;Luciana: A sophisticated girl, with class and style. She wants to be a model. She is impulsive, with a intense personality. She doesn't let anybody take her down. Her best friend is antonella,pia,and catherina. She dates, matias for a while.

;Facundo: He is Antonella's big brother, more gentle and kind than she is. He is Matias¨s best friend and will help him in his dream of becoming a soccer star. Hes in love with Tamara.
