The term inside job colloquially refers to a
crime , usuallylarceny ,robbery orembezzlement , committed by a person with a position of trust who is authorized to access a location or procedure with little or no supervision, e.g., a keyemployee ormanager . The perpetrator can also be a former employee who still has specialized knowledge necessary to ensure the optimum result of committing the crime.Members of
12-step organizations refer to the work ofrecovery as an inside job, referring to the process of introspection, self-discovery, and fundamental change necessary to maintain long-term sobriety.
