Rao Sikandar Iqbal

Rao Sikandar Iqbal was the Defence Minister of Pakistan from 2002 to 2007. He is member of Pakistan Muslim League (Q).Born in 1943, Mr. Rao Sikandar Iqbal holds a Law degree. He was the Secretary General of the Students Union of Punjab University in 1963-64.An active social worker of Okara, he is amongest the founder members of the Pakistan Peoples Party. He has been holding the president ship of the party at the district level.Mr. Rao Sikandar Iqbal joined practical politics in 1964. Since then, he has been jailed five times for his active participation in the Movement for Restoration of Democracy in the country.MNA from Okara, Mr. Rao Sikandar Iqbal has been taken into the Federal Cabinet as Senior Minister and assigned the portfolio of Defence.Mr. Rao Sikandar Iqbal has twice served as Federal Minister in the capacity of Minister for Food, Agriculture and Cooperatives in 1988 and Minister of Sports, Culture and tourism in 1993.Mr. Rao Sikandar Iqbal has also remained Chairman Standing Committee on Defence, Member Kashmir Committee.
