"Le cantatrici villane" ("The Boorish Singers") is a comic opera in two acts by Valentino Fioravanti on a libretto by Giovanni Palomba. First performed in Naples in 1799.

ynopsis

The action takes place in 18th century Casoria, a village near Naples.

Three country wenches have aspiration to become bel canto virtuose with the help of an ignorant and pretentious choir master (Zibaldone) and another would be singer and Don Juan (Bomba), but things get complicated with the unexpected return of bragging soldier and jealous husband (Carlino).
