When the Thorn's nanny hanged herself at Damien's 5th birthday party, they went in search for a new one. When Mrs. Baylock arrived for the job interview, she seemed to be the perfect woman to help raise a child, and she got the job. But the Thorns were unaware that she was a servant of the Devil, who had been sent to protect Damien at any cost. This was revealed when she said to him: "I am here to protect you." Then, for back-up, she let her guard dog into his bedroom.

Later on, after Damien knocked Katherine Thorn down the landing, Mrs. Baylock killed her by throwing Katherine out of the window of her hospital room. But in the remake, Mrs. Baylock inserted air into Katherine's blood tube which blocked the flow of blood to her heart, thereby killing her by an air embolism.

After Robert returned from Israel, after finding out that Damien was indeed not a human child, he planned to kill Damien. When Robert cut off some of Damien's hair, and found the 666 birthmark, Mrs. Baylock attacked him. She was kicked in the head by Robert and knocked out for a few minutes. Then, dragging Damien along behind him, Mrs. Baylock attacked Robert again. After a struggle, Robert stabbed her in the neck with a kitchen fork, killing her. In the remake, she was hit by Robert's car, and died when she hit the ground.
