Pagadian City ,Zamboanga del Sur ,Philippines . It is a Private-Catholic school established by the Missionary Society of Saint Columban(MSSC) in 1940 but was turned over to the Diocese of Pagadian in the 1960's.Formerly called, Pagadian Academy, was renamed to Holy Child Academy in honor of the patron saint of Pagadian City, the holy child or locally known for the name "Sto. Niño". HCA is run by the Diocese of Pagadian along with other diocesan schools- Immaculate Heart Academy, Star of the Sea Academy, and
Saint Columban College .Its high school occupies an area beside the San Jose Parish church while the preschool inherits the area fronting the HCA High school second gate which was occupied by Saint Columban College Grade School before it transferred to its current campus. The preschool also shares the area with the Hangop Kabataan Center (a school for retarded students).
The Academians
Holy Child Academy Athletics and the entire student populance of the academy is labeled as 'Academians'. The term "academians" is derived from the word "academy".
The Academians were noted for consecutive wins in citywide inter-school basketball competitions;
HCA is also one of the top 5 high schools in Pagadian City,
