Purgatory is an Iranian Death metal band. Formed in Tehran, by Shahab Moradi, vocalistdrummer who had formed the Death metal band, "The Tarantists" before.
After starting the band, he started writing music with the guitarist Sina Azadnia. They have composed some songs named "Red Death", "Heros", "Purgatorian" and... .
Shahabs extensive and unique voice, his deep and philosophical lyrics with nihilistic theme and his most technical and so fast drums-line with Sinas various exterem riffs and technical solos; are the reasons to count Purgatory as a "Technical/Progressive" and an "Extreme Metal band".
Influence
Although in some cases their "arrangement, techniques, vocals, riffs "and" drums" are alike with some metal bands such as Aeternus, Celtic Frost, Morbid Angel, Control Denied and... But Purgatory is not noticeably influenced by any of them. They are having their own style which makes their songs sound special and original.
