Bajram Haliti (born 1955-05-21 in Gnjilane, Kosovo [ [http://www.writersclubinternational.org/serbia/bajram_haliti.htm Bajram Haliti ] ] ) is a celebrated Roma scholar and author from Kosovo who is active in Romany causes.http://books.google.cz/books?id=j8Zg31lFgLsC&pg=PA151&lpg=PA151&dq=%22Amico+Rom%22+haliti&source=web&ots=k-uihp56FF&sig=tCqlFyi2xDzjadRUctivaOQx9Co&hl=en] His books have won many awards, including several prizes [ [http://www.concorsoamicorom.it/concorso/annateprecendenti/2000.htm Concorso Artistico Internazionale Amico Rom e Festival di Musica Romani ] ] in the annual "Amico Rom" contest in Italy [ [http://www.concorsoamicorom.it Concorso Artistico Internazionale Amico Rom ] ] and his work was included in 1998's "The Roads of Roma: A PEN Anthology of Gypsy Writers". A polyglot who has lectured throughout Europe and the USA, he serves as the editor of the magazine Ahimsa, "Nonviolence", devoted to Roma and Serbian issues.
