Paul Haig . After leaving to seek another major deal in 1986 Haig briefly returned to Crepuscule in September 1987 to record several tracks, though the only new record to emerge was the fine "Torchomatic" single, his tenth, complete with spy theme and a home-recorded instrumental cycle on the flipside. The "
European Sun " compilation album followed, including most of the shelvedIsland Records album not included on "The Warp Of Pure Fun " plus several rare b-sides, and the unreleasedCabaret Voltaire collaboration.Track listing

Torchomatic,
NME , 20 July 1988
Starts off with a promising invertedBatman riff on a sequencer and synth notes shooting off likeRoman candle s, but then the lounge lizard monotone vocals come in and it's pitable for the duration.Josef K had their moments, of course, but even then poor Paul never quite seemed all that close to the tip of the ledge. Now he's done gone and jumped right off. Sadly, a giant leap into a vast, inviting vacuum of mediocrity.
