13 March 1981 inNewport ) is arugby union footballer who plays at number 8 for the Ospreys and Wales.Jones played junior football for Bristol City as a goalkeeper until the age of 14. He took up rugby union at age 17 to be with his friends at Risca RFCfact|date=August 2008
In 2004, when the
Celtic Warriors were disbanded he was offered a contract with the Ospreys,fact|date=August 2008 who went on to win the Celtic League in 2004-05.He made his international debut for Wales against South Africa in November 2004.fact|date=August 2008 He featured in Wales' 2005 Grand Slam-winning side.
Many supporters were surprised when he was not initially selected for the 44-man squad for the Lions tour of New Zealand. He was later called up to cover for the injured Simon Taylor. He played so well in a 30-19 win over Otago that he was called up for the squad for the first test.fact|date=August 2008 He came on as a replacement and went on to start in the final two tests.
