Donnelly - Grant Thornton - Sean Kelly Team. [cite web|url=http://www.cyclingnews.com/results/2008/teams2008/SKT.shtml|title=Team's database, Cyclingnews|publisher=Cyclingnews.com|accessdate=2008-04-26] O'Brien has twice won the Irish National U23 Championship and has 2 silver and 1 bronze medal in the Elite Championship

Paídi O'Brien was a member of the team time trial squad that won the opening stage of Vuelta e Extremadura in April 2008. As first member of the team across the line [cite web|url=http://www.irishcycling.com/publish/news/art_2983.shtml|title=O'Brien in race lead after An Post TTT victory, Irishcycling|publisher=Irish cycling.com|accessdate=2008-04-26] ), he wore the leaders jersey for the second stage.
