Karyochori

Karyochori or Kariochori (Greek: Καρυοχώρι meaning walnut village from an alternative form of καρύδι), older forms -o and -on, is a village located 100 m north of the present spot of GR-1/E55 (Patras - Pyrgos), in Greece. Karyochori is part of the municipality of Agia Paraskevi in the province of Eordea in the [Kozani Prefecture] . Karyochori is built in a valley at the elevation of 710 m. The name of the village during the Ottoman Rule was Kouzloukio and was renamed into Greek as Karyochori since 1928. The origin of the old name of Kouzloukio comes from the Turkish word kaz? meaning walnut. From this name, Karyochori has a lot of walnut trees. Karyochori comes from the word "καρυά" και "χωριό" (village) which means the village of walnuts.

Karyochori is connected with a road linking to Agia Paraskevi as well as Ptolemaida and GR-3/E65. Karyochori is located S of Florina, SW of Edessa, nearly W of Ptolemaida and N of Kozani.
