James Davis (born 1706 or 1707 –
13 July 1755 ) was a Welsh physician andsatirist .Life
Davis was born in
Chepstow ,Monmouthshire and, on18 February 1723 at the age of sixteen, he matriculated atJesus College, Oxford . He obtained hisBachelor of Arts degree on13 October 1726 , advancing to Master of Arts on9 July 1729 . He then studied medicine, obtaining aBachelor of Medicine degree on7 December 1732 . It caricatured the antiquarian studies of
