:"This article refers to the Stockholm neighbourhood. For the
South Africa n mountains, seeDrakensberg ."Drakenberg (sometimes shortened to "Draken", "the dragon") is a residential area of eight city blocks, located in
Hornstull , which is a part ofSödermalm inStockholm , the capital ofSweden . Drakenberg is located close to theTantolunden park. From 1905 to the late 1960s the area was occupied by "Högalids vårdhem", an institution for poor elderly and disabled people that was ultimately torn down in 1971, allowing for the creation of the current housing blocks in typical 1970sarchitecture . The buildings were renovated in the 1990s, and in 2001 the apartment complex was privitized into co-operative apartments. Previously, the complex was owned by Svenska Bostäder; a municipal organization. Three bedroom apartments initially sold for 1,000,000 SKR (about $125,000), however, as result of the recent real estate boom in Stockholm, similar apartments in Drakenberg currently sell for about 3,000,000 SKR or $375,000.External links
