"The Seven Professors of the Far North" is a children's novel by John Fardell published in 2004 by G. P. Putnam's Sons.
It tells the tale of a group of children from the United Kingdom, Sam, Zara, and Ben, who undertake an adventure to the Arctic to rescue Zara's great-uncle, who has been kidnapped by a mad professor.
Characters
Zara is a Scottish girl and the great-niece of Professor Ampersand. Her parents died when she was very young, and she has lived with Ampersand almost her whole life.
Ben is Zara's younger brother.
Sam is eleven years old. He lives with his parents in England. His parents believe that he has gone to visit a friend, Uncle Ampersand, while they attend a conference. Sam's parents do not realize that Sam has taken up with Ben and Zara on the adventure to rescue their great-uncle.
Professor Ampersand is a Scotsman and professor who lives in Edinburgh. His home is filled with contraptions, inventions, and unusual features. Years ago, he worked with Professor Murdo in the Arctic.
Professor Murdo is a mad professor. He has set up a research station in the Arctic. He plans to take over the world.
Marcia Slick is an English girl. Her parents send her to Professor Murdo's research station, believing that his he can use his new medical procedures to eliminate all of her flaws. Marcia's parents keep the trip and the trip's purpose secret to Marcia, which makes her journey somewhat of an abduction.
Adam is a genius who was made from perfect genes. He becomes friends with the 7 professors and Zara, Ben, Sam, and Marcia. He can do huge calculations in his head.
