WMRE (Emory)

WMRE is the student radio station at Emory University.

History

In 1985, students began the laborious task of creating a modern radio station at Emory. On January 20, 1989, Emory's student operated radio station, WMRE, the Voice of Emory, began broadcasting. WMRE is presently broadcasting on the internet at [http://www.wmre.fm www.wmre.fm] as well as the campus cable television system. In addition to broadcasting, WMRE produces a zine formerly known as "Listen," but is currently known as "Frequency." WMRE has also hosted an annual "Localsfest" concert, showcasing up and coming Atlanta bands and musicians as well as an annual Spring Band Party, which has featured artists such as Ghostface Killah, Hot Chip, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, and The Fiery Furnaces.
