Resistance Soldering

Resistance soldering is soldering in which the heat is generated when current flows through a resistive material in a closed loop.

When high current undergoes resistance, heat is produced. The current goes through a transformer secondary winding to a terminal. Then it flows from a lead wire to a probe. Then it goes through the resistance, and back through another probe and then back to the terminal. From there, it just repeats. You can figure out how much heat is produced by using the formula W=I^2 R, where I is the current in amps, and R is the resistance in ohms.

Resistance soldering is used the same as regular iron soldering but the heat is produced differently. Resistance soldering is beneficial in that it heats up faster and cools down quicker to reduce the chance of injury. It is also more power efficient; it uses less electricity.
