Andrew Risby

Andrew Risby

Andrew Frederick Risby (1815 – 1895) was a pioneer settler and farmer of the North West Coast of Tasmania, Australia. He was born in Horsley, Gloucestershire, United Kingdom.

Risby, his wife Louisa nee Wells and family of 5 young children are regarded as the first family to settle in the Ulverstone district in 1847/8. Prior to this they had been among the earliest settlers of the Forth River district where they had settled in 1840/41 as neighbours to Forth's earliest permanent inhabitant, James Fenton. The Risby's property at the south eastern boundary of the town of Ulverstone was named "The Rises". He died in Ulverstone.
