He received his undergraduate degree in English Literature from the City College of New York and MBA from the Harvard Business School, Harvard University.Posman [ [http://nation.ittefaq.com/issues/2007/12/11/news0282.htm The New Nation - Internet Edition ] ] has worked and lived overseas, including five years in the "Peace Corps" as a volunteer teacher in Tunisia and as a staff member in Sri Lanka. He has been in charge of vast operations as Deputy Chancellor of the New York City School System and been involved in the most shoestring entrepreneurial ventures. Posman was also the vice chancellor of budget and finance at the City University from 1977 to 1984.
Posman believes that there is a natural fit between education and entrepreneurship. The connection between education and entrepreneurship centers on the recognition and realization of human potential–the most undeveloped natural resource existing in abundance throughout the world.
Several years ago Posman helped develop entrepreneurial opportunities and support structures for populations in New York City that would not otherwise become involved in small business. He is a Board member of a micro enterprise organization–Project Enterprise–developed on the Grameen Bank model--which was founded by Muhammad Yunus, the father of World wide micro-credit movement.With the help of Dr. Mercia Keizs, President of York College, and Provost/Senior VP Ivelaw Griffith, Prof. Posman took an initiative along with Mr. Rashidul Bari [ [http://www.thedailystar.net/story.php?nid=20577 :The Daily Star: Internet Edition ] ] , a Biographer of Muhammad Yunus, to start Muhammad Yunus Scholarship.
On
February 11 ,2008 , Yunus came to York College to mark the establishment of Scholarship Program.
