- Ampersand Network
The Ampersand Network is a not-for-profit organisation, committed to improving the appeal and accessibility of volunteering for young people in Australia [Ampersand Network Inc., http://www.ampersand.org.au/] .
Ampersand was found on the belief that exposing young people to social and environmental need will produce a more broad-minded and socially engaged generation of thinkers and leaders than might otherwise emerge.
The Ampersand Network is the first entirely youth-run organisation in Australia to have two of its Directors named Victorian finalists in the
Young Australian of the Year [Katia Sanderson, Australia Day Awards, http://www.australianoftheyear.gov.au/pages/bio.asp?pID=325] ['2008 Finalists', Australia Day Awards, http://www.australianoftheyear.gov.au/pages/page353.asp]Since its launch in 2005 ['Helping hands get a slice of life, Herald-Sun, 14/03/05, p61] , the Ampersand Network has provided access to over 5,000 volunteer opportunities Australia wide, and hundreds more with international development agencies abroad, such as
