St. Luke's medical center
- St. Luke's medical center
[http://www.stluke.com.ph St. Luke's Medical Center] is a tertiary hospital located in Quezon City, Philippines. It has a bed capacity of 660. It is the first in the Philippines and second in Asia to be accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCIA).
St. Luke’s was established in 1903 by the American Missionaries as a charity ward and dispensary hospital until it was transformed into an independent, non-sectarian, non-stock, non-profit corporation in the 70s. It takes pride in the sterling pedigree of great names that have helped transform a nine-bed charity ward into one of the most progressive hospitals in the Philippines and in Asia.
Today, St. Luke’s is an impressive landmark complex atop a hilly terrain in Quezon City. The hospital now accommodates 652 beds, and is home to ten institutes, 13 departments, and 22 Centers of Excellence, each one offering distinct services available for the first time in the Philippines. Adjacent to the hospital proper are the Medical Arts Building and the twin towers of Cathedral Heights Building Complex (CHBC) where over 1,000 hospital-affiliated medical consultants see out-patients in more than 450 private clinics. Also within the complex are a five-storey parking building, six restaurants, ten apartelle units for out-of-town families of patients, 14 residential units at the top floor and the St. Luke’s College of Medicine – William H. Quasha Memorial.
St. Luke’s is the Philippines' undisputed leader in many fields, most especially in cardiovascular medicine, neurology and neurosurgery, and cancer. It is the first choice of medical and health-related practitioners and patients for executive check-ups.
As milestone, on February 1, 2005, twin significant event shaped the Center's history: the groundbreaking for St. Luke's Medical Center-Bonifacio Global City and the signing of "Affiliation Agreement with Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center." However, on September 15, 2008, 4th alarm fire broke out at the Bonifacio Global City construction site.
