Jared Moskowitz

Jared E. Moskowitz (born December 18, 1980) is the youngest elected official in South Florida. He was elected as a Parkland City Commissioner in March of 2006, during his second year in law school at the age of 25. He currently serves as the Vice Mayor of the City of Parkland, Florida. As Vice Mayor, Moskowitz authored the Parkland Energy Incentive Reward Program which is the only program of its kind in Florida. Through this program the City of Parkland refunds tax dollars to residents if they participate in several green programs. Moskowitz also co-authored an ordinance requiring all commercial shopping center parking lot lighting to be solar powered. He continues to institute new recycling measures, and many other environmental programs within the city. Throughout the 2008 Presidential Campaign Moskowitz has emerged as a national Democratic fundraiser. He was recently selected to be a Florida Delegate at the 2008 Democratic National Convention. Moskowitz has also been quoted by Bill Clinton during the 2008 Presidential primary. Moskowitz attended college at George Washington University in Washington D.C. While in Washington, D.C., he was selected to intern for the Young Democrats of America. Moskowitz left that position when offered the opportunity to intern in the White House Office of the Vice President to assist the advance team with staffing events. In August of 2003, he was appointed as an Assistant in the Campaign Legal Department of the National Office of Senator Joseph Lieberman’s Presidential Campaign. Moskowitz graduated from the Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center in Davie, Florida, where he received his Juris Doctor in the Spring of 2007.
