Tom Petway is Chairman of the Board of
Zurich Insurance Services , Inc., a national insurance marketing and administrative services company.In 1988, Linda Sherrer was able to acquire the franchise for "Prudential Network Realty" in Duval, Clay and St. Johns counties. At that time, North Florida was not a hot market and she realized that she needed financial backing and sound business advice. She approached Tom Petway about investing in the venture and he agreed. The company has become very successful over the past twenty years and Petway is mostly a silent partner. Petway was a co-founder of and a minority partner in the NFL's 30th franchise, the
Jacksonville Jaguars .He is also chairman of "Citizens Property Insurance Corp.", "Casualty Joint Underwriting Association" and "Florida Residential Property".
Civic activities
Mr. Petway was Co-Chairman of the organizing group for
Super Bowl XXXIX and Co-Chairman and CEO of the Jacksonville Super Bowl Host Committee, Inc.From 1999 until its elimination in July, 2001, he served his second gubernatorial appointment to the
Florida Board of Regents of theState University System of Florida , serving as Chairman for two years; he previously served on the board from 1989 until 1995.He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors, Hospice Foundation for Caring, and is serving his second term as Chairman of the "Jacksonville Economic Development Commission"
Political
Tom Petway is a Republican and a prominent Bush family supporter. He has been involved in numerous campaign committees and fund raising efforts. In 1998, Petway and his company contributed $100,000 to the
Florida Republican Party , which spent millions of dollars on ads promoting Jeb's campaign for Florida Governor. After winning the election, Bush then appointed Petway to head the State Board of Regents, where Petway led the charge to ban affirmative action in the State University System. Tom Petway received FSU's prestigious
