CRN (shipyard)

CRN (shipyard)

CRN is an Italian shipyard, founded in Ancona in 1963 and part of the Ferretti group since 1999.

Today CRN (acronym of "Costruzioni e Riparazioni Navali") builds three-deck pleasure mega-yachts from 40 to 85 metres. Its creations include fully custom-built steel and aluminium mega-yachts measuring up to 85 metres, plus two lines of semi-custom vessels produced with composite materials at lengths of 40 and 43 metres.

Shipyard

CRN Shipyard covers in Ancona an area of 81,000 sqm, of which approximately 35,000 are covered. This consents the construction of yachts up to 85 metres. These new areas mean that each phase of steel cutting can be controlled directly by the shipyard.

At present, there are four different naval platforms that allow the shipyard’s technical office to draw up customised projects for vessels measuring from 43 to 85 metres.

Outside, in front of the shipyard, a door opens out on to the Adriatic Sea. The stretch of water in front of CRN is today a real private marina with 3 quays of 100, 80 and 40 metres in length. These will be used not only for the fitting out and completion of the CRN vessels but also as reference point for the whole Ferretti group, which can make use of a perfectly equipped area directly on the water.

History

"1963-1999: CRN between technology and luxury"

Set up by Sanzio Nicolini in 1963, the shipyard immediately established itself in a market which targeted a very select clientele. This has been the guiding principle behind CRN right from the outset and has earned it a position among the top world builders of luxury mega yachts.

The first "series" of 23 metre hulls known as "Super Conero" was built, followed by even larger and more prestigious boats, made in association with designers who will help to establish the shipyard internationally.

"1999-2002: CRN becomes part of the Ferretti group"

CRN became part of the Ferretti group in 1999. The first step of the agreement between these two giants has been the fascinating project entitled "Magnifica", a splendid mega yacht of 43 metres launched in 2001, first hull of a very successful line.

The shipyard in Ancona continues its expansion in 2001 by joining forces with Custom Line, a company bought in 1996 by the Ferretti group, specialising in the production of maxi yachts in composite material.

"2002-2008: The Ancona Shipyard today"

CRN broke new ground at the beginning of 2003 by buying the neighbouring Mario Morini shipyard.

This acquisition has led to the Italian shipyard becoming one of the biggest producers of mega-yachts in Europe. This has been a trampoline to acquire the technology and production facilities necessary to give weight to CRN's presence in the steel and aluminium mega yachts market.

Among the boats recently launched, the mega yachts in steel and aluminium ABILITY of 54mt, GiVi of 60mt, MARAYA of 54mt, ROMANCE of 57mt and the maxi yachts in composite EMERALD STAR and HANA, both 43-meter long.
