Electralyte are a 4-piece English rock band from Chelmsford, Essex. Their debut album was titled "Breakout" and they released a follow up album "Scratch beneath the surface" in July 2008. They are currently distributed by Fierce Distribution in the UK. The band have a Brit- rock sound but are noted for mixing in other musical styles and influences. The band are Christian but as lead singer Matt decribes "I don’t think it emanates itself in such a transparent, evangelical way in a lot of our songwriting, but like I say, for us, we just want to be people of integrity. We wanna be making music that we believe in, that carries a message and part of that message is going to be evangelistic, I suppose, because we believe there is something special going on in having a relationship with God." History

The band formed in 2004, when Matt Leeder, Paul Leverett and Jon Mitson decided to pursue forming a full-time band. Paul and Matt originally met when they played for another band. At the time Paul was working as a freelance music producer and recording engineer and Matt was working for the Salvation army in London who encouraged him to start the band. Jon met Paul while he played for another band however found time to gig with Paul. The relationship was born and Electralyte was created. The name Electralyte was originally chosen because they liked the sound of it but it was also deemed appropriate due to an Electrolyte's role in creating energy.

The first full length CD was recorded with ICC in the UK and was titled "Break Out." Matt Leeder was the principle song writer and the CD was released in 2006. The song "Take broken me" features a full Salvation army brass band, organised through Matt's Salvation Army work.

The band have played at festivals such as Nth Fest, Creation Fest, New Day and Greenbelt and supported Delirious? on their Omnisonic tour towards the end of 2007.

In July 2008 Electralyte released the album "Scratch beneath the surface" which is distributed by Fierce Distribution in the UK. The album contains 12 songs written by Matt Leeder and is the first album which features Dave Griffiths as the fourth member of the band. A professional CD review of the album at Blaze Magazine was favourable saying the band has "... a quintessentially British sound and yet show enough new tricks to keep things fresh."
