Patrick McClure

Patrick McClure, AO is a publicly recognized leader and CEO with 15 years experience in building and running successful state, national and international enterprises. He was CEO of Mission Australia from 1997 - 2006 and transformed the organisation from a state based entity to a leading national enterprise with revenue of $250 million, 3000 staff and 300 service locations. Mission Australia provides employment, training, housing, youth and family services to individuals and communities across Australia. He was also CEO of the Society of St Vincent de Paul (NSW/ACT) from 1992-96. More recently he was CEO of the Retirement Villages Group in the Macquarie Capital Group with 53 retirement villages owned and operated across Australia and New Zealand.

Patrick was Chairperson of the Australian Government’s Reference Group on Welfare Reform, Deputy Chairperson of the Welfare to Work Consultative Forum, Member of the Prime Minister's Community Business Partnership Board, Chairperson of the OECD-LEED Forum on Social Innovation based in Paris, Member of the Prime Minister's Mature Aged Taskforce and Member of the Federal Government Board for a New Tax System. He was a participant in the Australian 2020 Summit and is currently a Commissioner of the Australian Fair Pay Commission.

He was awarded an Order of Australia (AO) in 2003, an Australian Centennial Medal (2001) and was selected as an AFR-BOSS True Leader (2005). He was winner of the Equity Trustee's EQT CEO Awards for "Lifetime Achievement" recognizing "leadership exdellence in the non-profit sector". He was a finalist in the Ernst and Young "Social Entrepreneur of the Year". In 1990 he was awarded a Churchill Fellowship for his work as founder of Second Harvest (Australia) a social enterprise providing low cost food for people on low income.

He has a Master of Arts (Public Policy), a Bachelor of Social Work (Distinction) and a Diploma in Theology and Pastoral Studies. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Patrick was a Franciscan priest for 10 years before resigning the ministry. He is married with two children. He is regularly invited to address national and international conferences and forums.
